Why “Cheap” is a major risk when it comes to fire safety
There are plenty of things it's fine to buy on the cheap. But when your family's life depends on an electronic circuit, do you want a device tested in European laboratories, or one produced with no quality control?
Uncertified products carry real risks:
- Cheap products may use sensors that trigger at 60 °C (the temperature a solar panel can reach in summer). Flarex has an activation threshold precisely calibrated to the EN standard.
- Flarex is a non-pressurised canister. Many cheap sprays are pressurised, which turns them into ticking time bombs.
- Cheap products have no fireproof casing, so they risk melting during a fire and becoming a source of fire themselves.
- Fire does not forgive improvisation:
- Loss of the asset: The house or equipment is completely destroyed (a loss of EUR 10,000 – 500,000).
- Denial of your claim: Insurers immediately check whether the protection systems were type-approved. Using an uncertified product is treated as gross negligence, which leads to the claim being refused.
