Aqueous Vermiculite Dispersion (AVD) fire extinguishing agent is a revolutionary, tested and certified technology designed specifically for lithium-ion battery fires.
AVD is applied as a solution consisting of fine water droplets containing vermiculite composites. When deposited on the surface of a burning fuel, the water suppresses flames and cools the fuel source, bringing the fire under control. As the water evaporates, the vermiculite particles overlap and bond together, producing a barrier film that completely extinguishes the fire.
The AVD protective film performs three main functions:
- Reducing thermal propagation.
- Fuel source isolation.
- It represents a barrier against oxygen.
AVD has passed the 35 kV dielectric test of EN3 and acts as an electrical insulator.
The extinguisher complies with EN 3-7:2004+A1:2007 standards and holds certifications such as TÜV SÜD, Apragaz, BSI, KIWA and so on.
The product also complies with NTA 8133:2021 , a standard created by KIWA and the Royal Netherlands Institute for Standardization (NEN), which makes the extinguisher effective in extinguishing fires in lithium-ion batteries.
